New York Craft Show
Hello,
These are news to the show in New York… I love this City, believe me I really do… First show in NY, both for One of a Kind and for me…
VIP evening … Oh! Yes, I love it… Hic! Ah … You know artists … All like alcohol…Hic! I’m just kidding, just kidding… Well, a big thank you to Sonia and Louisa from Saatchi… for having found me a dress … I realized during the show in Toronto that I had absolutely nothing to put on my back for this evening … which should have become a celebration for me… It has been some twenty years since I used a dress for the last time… hep… I’m almost always wearing my working clothes, in other words: dirty and dusty … And fortunately someone invented the foundation … To hide the rest of the sneak attacks of bed bugs in Toronto … The life of an artist not an easy one …
I had pieces which were selected to be displayed on the front … This provides a good advertising on the top… The arrival and departure for assembling and dismantling of the show are easily done… And they have a shuttle which is going back and forth between the show at Pier 94 and the subway Columbus Circle and is free … A big thank you to Regina for your home … That’s where I slept… It’s in Harlem … less expensive… Well, the budget of an artist … is always a little tight… Anyway … I’ll always sleep in Harlem … It’s a matter of money… And I like Lenox Ave. or Malcolm X … Yeah … two names for the same street .. Here anecdote … It’s a nightmare to find a parking in NY … I was looking for a place … I saw on in front of a school… I was uncertain about the meaning of the road signs… I asked a guy to be sure… He replied: “ uh… don’t ask me anything … I do not even know how I arrived in this city … ” Let’s say I have laughed about his answer …
The show lasted only four days the first night of which was dedicated to a VIP reception with the media, cocktails, etc.. It’s short, but in NY that is a long time … Everything is going fast … and the most curious is that everyone seems to know he or she goes … They think fast, talk fast and works fast … Yes!
Well… Met a Naked Cowboy in Times Square … Grrr I felt cold for him … If you are looking for an Italian restaurant … There’s one I like … Tony Di Napoli’s … It’s in Time Square on 43st between Avenue of Americas and Broadway … Bon appétit …
See you next year… in December…
